Situated at a soaring elevation of 3800 meters above sea level in the extreme northern corner of Kaghan Valley Mansehra District Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dudipatsar Lake Queen of Lakes is one of Pakistans most spectacular and remote high altitude glacial lakes. Located within the protected boundaries of Lulusar Dodipat National Park the lake derives its name from local words Dudi meaning white Patsar meaning lake and Sar meaning peak referring to the snow-covered mountain summits that reflect upon its deep greenish blue mirror waters. Accessible via a rewarding multi-day wilderness trek starting from Besal along the N15 highway Dudipatsar Lake is surrounded by lush alpine pastures wild summer flowers icy glacial streams and snow peaks offering an unmatched wilderness trekking experience for adventure lovers in Northern Pakistan.

Local Transportation

Drive via paved N15 highway 45 km north of Naran to Besal, followed by a 6 to 8 hour 18 km wilderness trek to Mulla ki Basti and Dudipatsar Lake.

Accommodation

Wilderness tent camping at Mulla ki Basti basecamp or near the lake shoreline (no commercial hotels exist in the national park area).

Food & Cuisine

Simple trekker meals served at seasonal camp huts in Besal and Mulla ki Basti including dal chawal, hot eggs, instant noodles, flatbread, and green Kahwa tea.

Safety Information

Demanding high altitude wilderness trek. Wear sturdy waterproof trekking boots, hire a local guide from Besal, and carry warm windproof layers to prevent hypothermia and altitude sickness.

Travel Tips

Leave Besal early by 6:00 AM to cross cold meltwater streams before afternoon sun raises stream water levels along the valley floor.
