Named Ansoo after its remarkable resemblance to a human teardrop Ansoo translates to tear in Urdu and Punjabi this pristine high altitude alpine body of water sits cradled inside a steep snow covered crater ridge directly behind Malika Parbat. Accessible via a demanding wilderness trek starting from Lake Saiful Muluk or Mahandri Manor Valley Ansoo Lake offers experienced trekkers an extreme high altitude adventure featuring frozen snow basin views ice floes rugged cliff edges and unpolluted alpine solitude.

Local Transportation

Accessible via a 4x4 jeep drive from Naran to Lake Saiful Muluk, followed by a demanding 6 to 8 hour steep uphill trek to the Ansoo Lake crater rim.

Accommodation

Day trip trek starting from basecamp hotels in Naran town or Lake Saiful Muluk camping tents (no shelter or huts exist at the lake).

Food & Cuisine

Trekkers must carry personal high-energy trail food including dry fruits, chocolates, energy bars, boiled eggs, water bottles, and thermos tea.

Safety Information

Highly strenuous and technical high altitude trek. Wear sturdy waterproof trekking boots, carry a personal medical kit, hire a licensed local guide, and carry warm windproof layers to prevent altitude sickness and hypothermia.

Travel Tips

Leave Lake Saiful Muluk basecamp extremely early at 4:00 AM or 5:00 AM to reach the crater rim before midday fog and high-altitude clouds obscure the lake view.
